2025-2026 Concert Season coming soon!
December 2025 - Night of Silence
Join us for a concert of holiday music reflecting on the themes of the silence and stillness of the season. This program also includes some well-known carols for the audience to sing along with us. This will be a concert to share the sense of quiet reflection that can settle on us all in the wintertime, a few rousing and inspiring carols to break up the silence, and the community that reminds us that even in the darkest of times, we are not alone.
April 2026 - You Are the Music
With a theme inspired by two contemporary pieces on the text of the poem “Listening” by Amy Lowell, we present a number of short choral works exploring the intertwining of humanity and music. With works from the late Romantic period to the current era, the program includes composers from Rimsky-Korsakov to Sibelius to Arvo Pärt to the Chorale’s own music director Gary Cannon. This eclectic program promises both triumphant moments of jubilation and solemn moments of contemplation of what it means to be human. We invite you to come along on this journey of discovery.

WILD NIGHTS: Dickinson and Neruda
As part of the second annual Katherine L. White Invitational Choral Festival, the Vashon Island Chorale sings music inspired by two great poets. Island composer Bill Wood brings a suite of pithy songs on texts of Emily Dickinson. And the twentieth-century American giant Samuel Barber celebrates the poetry of Pablo Neruda with a large-scale work with orchestra, The Lovers. We also present the world premiere of a new work by Chorale singer Bev Reil, in commemoration of the Lahaina wildfire of 2023. Don't miss this concert of vibrant, lusty, introspective, and heartfelt music.

CANDLELIGHT CAROLS: Christmas music of Bach and Rutter
The Vashon Island Chorale celebrates Christmas with two great composers of sacred music: Johann Sebastian Bach and Sir John Rutter. Bach penned hundreds of church cantatas, of which we will sing selections of four that were written for the Christmas season. Rutter's name is virtually synonymous with Christmas carols: both original compositions and arrangements of popular favorites. Join the Chorale for this festive occasion of seasonal music old and new!
